A magical Valley of Eden garden opening

We are now open for business for Easter.

We have been working hard to get ready. The weather played havoc, especially when you are creating a brand new garden, The Valley of Eden. The new garden will officially open on June 12th but is also open for visitors, while we finish the work.

First the incredibly tough winter killed off most of the new plants, that we planted back in the autumn. Even in our established gardens the hard and prolonged frost killed some plants. Then the hungry deer pulled out the rest of the new plants and eat some. On top of that the almost 6 week long dry spell meant that our new series of ponds in The Valley of Eden dried out. So we brought back our digger and starting digging a very long river bed to channel water into the ponds.

Having almost finished the work the rains (hurrah!) finally came, and turned The Valley of Eden into a valley of Mud & Destruction

Sometime later the area hopefully will turn back into a magical 'Valley of Eden'. It has amazing sea views and surprises from a prehistoric era, including a lifesize dinosaur, a dinosaur foot print and (wo)man's first footprint.

During a very, very busy off season we have also improved all the pathways of the existing three gardens to make them weather proof, in case we experience another wet summer (no way!) and done the usual repairs after a busy season - including the not so usual repairing, or rather complete re-doing, of the hour glass, which a huge rock had crashed down and smashed in a storm.

We have extended our car park to be ready for even more visitors and a new sculpture, "The Yarn Spinner" greets visitors at the entrance with a yarn or two to spin....
